The Kelowna Garden Club is calling for nominations in its search for the city’s best garden, with the deadline set for June 19. The club is seeking entries that showcase Kelowna’s most beautiful, creative, and inspiring outdoor spaces. They encourage residents to nominate gardens ranging from thriving vegetable patches to water-efficient landscapes and front yards that catch the eye.
This marks the second year of the competition, which aims to celebrate the passion and hard work of local gardeners. Winners will receive fertilizer donated by Miracle-Gro, one of the event’s sponsors, along with a lawn sign proclaiming their garden’s distinction.
The contest features a variety of categories, including gardens maintained primarily by property owners, such as those that conserve water, have strong curb appeal, offer cohesive design, or grow fruits and vegetables. There are also categories for gardens that receive professional help, including those at historic properties, well-kept streets, strata-managed green spaces, and urban forests. Additionally, the competition invites the public to vote for their favorite park in Kelowna.
The Kelowna Garden Club hopes the contest will highlight the city’s diverse and vibrant gardening community while encouraging residents to take pride in their outdoor spaces.
