Oklahoma City has been named one of the best places to live in Oklahoma and the United States for 2025, according to a new report by U.S. News & World Report. The publication released its list of the 250 best places to live in the country for 2025-2026, considering factors such as affordability, job market, and quality of life.
Oklahoma City ranked 96th overall in the national list. The report also highlighted the eight best places to live in Oklahoma, where Oklahoma City secured a spot alongside other cities such as Broken Arrow, Edmond, Moore, Enid, Norman, Tulsa, and Lawton.
U.S. News pointed to several reasons why Oklahoma City stands out. The report also noted that other living expenses, including groceries, utilities, dining, and entertainment, are generally cheaper in Oklahoma City than in many other parts of the country.
The city’s population trends younger, with a large portion under the age of 45. About 28 percent of residents are under 20, 7 percent are between 20 and 24, 16 percent are between 25 and 34, and 14 percent are between 35 and 44. Around 22 percent are between 45 and 64, while 13 percent are 65 or older.
The job market in Oklahoma City is also stronger than in many metro areas of similar size. The city offers job opportunities in industries such as energy, aviation, health care, and industrial trades like machining, pipe fitting, and welding. The unemployment rate in Oklahoma City stands at 3.4 percent, slightly better than the national average. However, the median household income in the city is \$67,188, which is about \$12,300 less than the national median.
The report highlights Oklahoma City as a place that combines affordability and job opportunities, making it an attractive option for many people considering a move.
