As summer begins, a new survey has revealed the top 10 holiday destinations in Scotland, with Edinburgh taking the number one spot.
The travel accommodation company Cottages and Castles published the list on June 4, following a nationwide survey of more than 12,000 people across the UK. The Scottish capital ranked highest, praised for its striking architecture, lively atmosphere, and cultural appeal.
The city impressed respondents with its historic skyline, charming cobbled streets, and the scenic beauty of Arthur’s Seat, a popular hiking spot offering panoramic views. Many highlighted the friendly nature of the city and its strong creative energy.
One of the key draws of Edinburgh in the summer is the world-renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As the largest arts festival on the planet, it attracts performers and visitors from around the globe, offering thousands of events covering comedy, theatre, music, dance, and more.
Cottages and Castles described Edinburgh as “Scotland’s Capital of Joy,” adding that people were particularly moved by its “festival buzz, dramatic skyline, and warm local welcomes.”
While many people are planning international holidays this summer, the report shows that Scotland’s towns and cities continue to be popular destinations for those seeking beauty, culture, and history closer to home.
