June 2025 has marked a historic month for country star Luke Combs. The North Carolina native became the first country artist to headline the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The performance added another major achievement to Combs’ growing list of career milestones.
Alongside his landmark performance, Combs was also recognized as the second-best-selling country artist of all time. According to recent data, he has sold 155.5 million RIAA-certified units. That number puts him just behind Garth Brooks, who holds the top spot with 162.5 million units sold.
Combs, who began his mainstream career in 2017, has earned 19 No. 1 hits and two Country Music Association Awards. His latest accomplishments include four new RIAA certifications. His single “She Got the Best of Me” reached Diamond status, while other major hits—“Beautiful Crazy” (14x Platinum), “Beer Never Broke My Heart” (8x Platinum), and “When It Rains It Pours” (12x Platinum)—received additional Platinum awards.
In a message posted to Instagram following his Bonnaroo set, Combs expressed gratitude to fans: “Honored to have gotten the opportunity to headline Bonnaroo last night, and I’ll never forget it… Also can’t believe a song I wrote while I was still in college before moving to Nashville is now Diamond. Y’all are something else. Thank you!”
Combs now joins an elite group of musicians who have surpassed 150 million certified units in the United States. The list includes top global artists such as Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Eminem, Beyoncé, and Drake.
Combs’ rise to stardom began with his 2017 breakout single “Hurricane,” which topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart and reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut album, This One’s for You, reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
Despite his success, Combs continues to push forward. He recently announced via X (formerly Twitter) that he is working on his sixth studio album, sharing, “I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks working on what my next record looks like… I really do think it could wind up being the best record I’ve ever made.”
With major milestones already behind him and new music on the way, Combs is on track to not only break country records—but to make music history.
