The Town of Pelham is inviting residents and local businesses to participate in the Miracle-Gro Best Garden Contest, now in its third year. The contest is held in partnership with Miracle-Gro, the Pelham Garden Club, and the Pelham Communities in Bloom initiative. It celebrates the efforts of residents who contribute to making the town beautiful, sustainable, and welcoming.
This year’s contest introduces a new edible garden category, encouraging participants to grow their own food. Whether it’s vegetable beds, herbs near the door, or creative patio planters, all types of gardens are welcome.
Vickie vanRavenswaay, Director of Recreation, Culture and Wellness, said the contest is a fun way for people to get involved and show their gardening skills. She praised the Pelham Garden Club for inspiring the community and bringing people together through gardening.
The contest supports Pelham’s participation in the national Communities in Bloom program, which promotes civic pride, environmental responsibility, and community improvement through gardening. Gardens will be judged on appearance, creativity, sustainable practices, and integration of edible garden elements.
Judging will begin with photo submissions, followed by a curbside review. The top twelve finalists will receive a Best Garden lawn sign and Miracle-Gro products. Entries close on July 7, 2025, at noon.
The Pelham Garden Club continues to support the event by providing expert advice and encouraging people of all ages to enjoy gardening and its benefits.
