The world’s tallest and smallest dogs recently shared a playful moment that proved friendship knows no size. Reggie, a 7-year-old Great Dane standing 3 feet 4 inches tall, and Pearl, a 4-year-old Chihuahua measuring just 3.59 inches, met for the first time earlier this month in Idaho, according to Guinness World Records.
Despite their huge height difference — about the length of a baseball bat or guitar — the two dogs quickly became friends. Their owners watched happily as Reggie and Pearl wagged their tails and relaxed together on the couch at Reggie’s home.
Pearl’s owner, Vanesa Semler from Florida, described her tiny pup as a confident “diva” who loves fashion and having her nails painted. She said Pearl is friendly with bigger dogs and seems unaware of her small size. During their meeting, Pearl zipped playfully between Reggie’s legs, explored the house, and ran in the backyard with her new giant friend.
Reggie’s owner, Sam Johnson Reiss, said she expected the gentle giant to be cautious at first, but was surprised that Pearl showed no fear. Reiss called Reggie a “big baby” who acts like a toddler. She said the dogs’ interaction was heartwarming, with Reggie seeming curious about the tiny visitor.
Both owners see the Guinness World Records recognition as a special way to celebrate their dogs’ unique lives and the joy they bring to their families. They believe Reggie and Pearl’s friendship will last forever.
Reiss added that while Reggie may not understand the importance of the record, the recognition is a meaningful way to honor their beloved pet and share his happiness with others.
