Beaches in Camber Sands, Bexhill on Sea, Normans Bay, and Winchelsea have been honored with the prestigious Seaside Award from Keep Britain Tidy. This award recognizes the best beaches in the country, serving as a symbol of well-maintained, safe, and attractive coastal areas.
Cllr Hazel Timpe, who is responsible for neighborhood services and tourism, raised the Seaside Award flag at Bexhill beach this week. She expressed her delight at the recognition, saying, “I’m thrilled that our wonderful beaches have once again been acknowledged with this national honor.”
Timpe also highlighted the efforts of local officers, contractors, and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep the coast in excellent condition. “We are extremely lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world, and I’m grateful for all the hard work that goes into maintaining these beaches.”
She added that the awards serve as a point of pride for local residents and hoped they would attract more visitors to the area, boosting the local economy this summer.
In total, 33 beaches across the southeast received the Seaside Award this year, further underscoring the region’s reputation for excellent coastal destinations.
