Tim Dillon, the stand-up comedian and podcaster from Island Park, New York, knows the Long Island food scene inside and out. On a recent appearance on *Hot Ones*, Dillon shared what he believes is the island’s best culinary contribution to the U.S.—the classic bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.
According to Dillon, the sandwich consists of two over-medium eggs, bacon, American cheese, salt, pepper, and ketchup all on a roll. “You eat that in the morning about 1:30 PM,” Dillon said. “It coats your stomach and absorbs that anxiety… You actually can absorb all of that with the sandwich and then go right back into bed.”
Dillon, whose latest Netflix special *I’m Your Mother* premiered on April 15, went on to explain that while Long Island has great food, it doesn’t offer much beyond that. He described the region as a place of comfort, where food plays a central role in daily life. “If the food was bad, people would riot. There’s nothing else. There’s no culture. There’s no real intelligence… It’s kind of a vacant landscape of nothing,” Dillon remarked. “A suburban emptiness that closets you until you finally fill yourself with bagels, gnocchi or fentanyl.”
His comments painted a bleak picture of Long Island, emphasizing the lack of community or purpose he perceives there.
Dillon’s latest special follows *This Is Your Country*, an unscripted, Jerry Springer-style show that tackled topics such as immigration, cryptocurrency, and OnlyFans. Reflecting on his work, Dillon joked about Netflix’s reception, saying, “You know who didn’t like it as much? Netflix. No, I’m kidding. They’re great people there, but they don’t love talk formats.”
In the interview, Dillon also took a stand on milk, defending whole milk despite its controversies. “Whole milk, from America’s heartland dairy farmers… Hands off RFK! I’ll have my milk the way I like it: genetically engineered.”
As for fast food, Dillon hailed the McGriddle as the most influential item. “The McGriddle married the sweet and savory in a way that now everybody does it,” he said.
Dillon’s sharp wit and unfiltered opinions continue to keep fans and viewers talking, from his Netflix specials to his memorable *Hot Ones* interview.
