June 9 — Jennie Kim, the BLACKPINK member, is the only K-pop artist to be featured on Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums of 2025 So Far” list. Her first solo album, Ruby, earned the honor.
Jennie shares the list with major stars like Lady Gaga, for her album Mayhem, and Bad Bunny, for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. Rolling Stone praised Ruby, comparing it to the work of Rihanna.
The magazine wrote, “Jennie has an impressive ability to take center stage in candy-coated pop-R&B. Some parts of the album feel like second-generation descendants of the hazy introspection found in Rihanna’s 2016 classic, Anti.”
Jennie played a large role in creating Ruby, which was released in March. The album is said to be inspired by Shakespeare’s play As You Like It.
In addition to the hit single “Like Jennie,” the album features several collaborations. These include “ExtraL” with rapper Doechii and “Love Hangover” with Dominic Fike.
