The Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI) hosted the UAE Innovates exhibition at Emirates Towers Boulevard in Dubai as part of the UAE Innovates 2025 event held throughout February. The exhibition highlighted recent government innovations that have made a significant impact across the country and its citizens.
The event featured ten key innovations and included an interactive mirror maze designed to reflect the complex journey of bringing new ideas to life.
Abeer Tahlak, Director of MBRCGI, said the UAE government has made great progress in promoting innovation. She explained that the government aims to build a culture of innovation within its agencies to create tools and projects that benefit society.
Tahlak added that the exhibition not only raises awareness about the importance of innovation in government but also honors the top innovators. She emphasized how individuals and agencies are shaping the future by changing work methods and making a positive, visible impact on society. Their efforts support the UAE’s vision to become a global innovation hub.
The featured projects came from ten federal and local government bodies, including the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Interior, Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security, Emirates Health Services, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Airports, Dubai Municipality, and Fujairah Environment Authority.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment presented its Plant the Emirates National Programme, which helps farmers improve local agriculture using smart technologies. Visitors had the chance to taste locally grown produce. The program aims to boost farm productivity, improve crop quality, and promote sustainability through modern tools.
The Ministry of Economy showcased its National Digital Platform for Monitoring Essential Commodity Prices. This platform tracks prices of essential goods such as cooking oil, eggs, dairy, rice, sugar, poultry, legumes, bread, and wheat in real time. It helps ensure compliance with government-set price limits across the UAE.
Emirates Health Services introduced the Digital Twin project, which uses real-time data to improve hospital operations. The system helps optimize workflows, allocate resources better, and improve patient care by analyzing patient flow and emergency response.
The Ministry of Interior’s Smart Examiner is an advanced vehicle equipped with sensors, GPS, and facial recognition cameras that autonomously conduct driving tests without an in-person supervisor. It uses AI to detect traffic violations and offers a one-day driving test, reducing the usual licensing time from several months to just 24 hours.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security presented the world’s first Smart and Fast Travel system. Using facial recognition, it creates a traveler database without pre-registration, speeding up airport processing. In 2024, over 4.7 million passengers used the system, with an average gate processing time of just 8.7 seconds.
Dubai Civil Aviation Authority displayed its drone delivery system, part of Dubai’s broader efforts to lead in smart transportation. This system fits within several initiatives promoting robotics, AI, and drone use. By 2030, drones are expected to handle one-third of deliveries in the city.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) introduced LiDAR technology for road assessment, combining digital imaging and LiDAR to evaluate road conditions safely and accurately. The system can survey 80 kilometers of road per day, three times faster than traditional visual inspections, and helps maintain road quality as transport systems evolve.
Dubai Airports showcased a smart aircraft diversion monitoring system using AI and cameras to improve aircraft operations. It enhances coordination among airports, airlines, and air traffic control, reducing delays and costs while supporting data-driven decisions.
Dubai Municipality’s Building X innovation provides real-time building data to increase efficiency and lower energy use. It helps predict maintenance issues before they arise, saving time and money.
The Fujairah Environment Authority demonstrated a smart system for mapping water resources and managing flood risks. This tool supports environmental protection by monitoring water supplies and helping prevent groundwater overuse and flooding.
UAE Innovates 2025, held under the theme “The Power of Innovation 10 – Where Does Your Strength Lie?”, serves as a national platform engaging all sectors of society. Over the past decade, it has supported ideas and projects that improve life quality. This year’s edition aligns with the Year of Community, reaffirming the UAE’s focus on placing people at the heart of progress.
