Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin has been voted the second-best lake in the United States by readers of USA Today. The only lake ranked higher was Big Bear Lake in California.
USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards highlighted Elkhart Lake for its crystal-clear water and beautiful blue-green color. The lake is known for its hidden coves and plentiful fishing spots. Formed by glaciers and fed by natural springs, Elkhart Lake offers a scenic and peaceful environment for visitors.
Kathleen Eickhoff, executive director of Wisconsin’s Elkhart Lake, expressed pride in the recognition. She said the honor reflects not only the lake’s natural beauty but also the dedication of the community that cares for it. Eickhoff added that they are excited to welcome visitors from across the country and beyond.
The top 10 lakes chosen by readers include Big Bear Lake in California, Elkhart Lake in Wisconsin, and Lake George in New York, among others. The list features well-known bodies of water such as Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, spanning multiple states. This national recognition brings attention to some of the country’s most cherished lakes.
